FULL DAY – CHAMPAGNE TASTINGS

Have lunch in Epernay or on your journey to Reims and visit Hautvillers, a gorgeous village on the southern slope of the Montagne de Reims. It forms part of the three top wine-growing areas of Ay, Hautvillers and Avenay.

WALKING TOUR – ORANGERIE MUSEUM - TUILERIES GARDENS

The Musée de l’Orangerie is located in the heart of Paris within the Tuileries Gardens. Renovated in 2006, it offers two prestigious collections for visitors to peruse at their leisure. Water Lilies (les Nymphéas) – Painted while exploring variations of light at his garden in Giverny, they are the iconic pinnacle of Claude Monet’s artistic impressions. Claude Monet’s heart belonged to the town of Giverny for over four decades. He gardened and painted, finding the peace and creativity between flowers and colours that he sought.

In an alternative approach to touring Giverny and Monet’s house and garden, you will be given playbooks of questions relating to culture and mystery to guide you. You will start the day with a visit to the beautiful Rodin Museum. The once shabby mansion in Paris where the sculptor Auguste Rodin worked until his death in 1917 reopened to the public in November 2015 and is now so chic, warm, accessible and elegant that the artist himself would have astonished.

WWII IN PARIS
This tour aims to give insight into the violent and sometimes silent struggle of Paris during the WWII occupation by German forces. After passing the Eiffel Tower, we go to the former barracks of the German army, riddled with bullet holes and now a military school.

Discover where WWII took place in Paris; the Lutetia hotel, the French Senate, Les Invalides, the Police headquarters, Notre-Dame, the Opéra district, the Hôtel de Ville the Louvre and the Luxembourg which were the headquarters of the German army.
